Man, Teen Held in Connection with 13-Year-Old Boy’s Killing in Anaheim

ANAHEIM, Calif.—A man and a teenager were in custody April 18 in connection with the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy in Anaheim in what police called a gang-related killing.

The shooting occurred around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of West Ball Road, where the teenage victim was found with at least one gunshot wound. The boy was taken to a hospital, where he later died, according to Anaheim police.

Officers searched the area and arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder and 20-year-old Bryan Gonzalez of Anaheim for allegedly being an accessory to the killing, police said.

According to the Anaheim Police Department, detectives “believe the shooting was gang-related” but they declined to release further details, citing the continuing investigation.

The teen suspect, who was not identified due to his age, was detained at Orange County Juvenile Hall. Mr. Gonzalez was booked and detained at the Anaheim Police Department.

The teenage victim was not identified, with police citing his age.
