After NBC News and MSNBC attacked The Epoch Times in several reports riddled with inaccuracies, blatant errors, and misrepresentations, many readers and contributors have expressed broad support for the newspaper’s independent reporting and dedication to seeking the truth.

NBC News and MSNBC attempted to discredit The Epoch Times’ reporting by mischaracterizing the newspaper’s business practices and repeating propaganda produced by the Chinese communist regime.

For example, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Aug. 20 targeted The Epoch Times for half an hour on her show basing her claims on NBC News’ hit piece that was published earlier in the day. Maddow focused on conflating programming of the NTD digital show Edge of Wonder—an entertainment show that explicitly focuses on the most audacious conspiracy theories out there—with Epoch Times reporting.

The Epoch Times had provided a statement to NBC News back in June to address their questions about the newspaper, but both networks chose to ignore our statement, which notably said the following:
The Epoch Times and NTD Television, while they are sister media, are entirely separate entities. While we are aware of the entertainment show “Edge of Wonder,” which was founded by former Epoch Times staff, The Epoch Times is in no way connected with it, as the show’s website makes clear.
Moreover, NBC News took aim at The Epoch Times’ coverage of President Donald Trump and his administration. The newspaper’s editor-in-chief, Jasper Fakkert, addressed this in his statement on Aug. 20:
“While The Epoch Times has been at the forefront of covering the actions taken by officials in the Obama administration who targeted the Trump campaign during the 2016 election, NBC News is refusing to look at verifiable evidence and simply dismisses the reporting as a ‘conspiracy theory.’ This comes from an outlet that misled the American public for more than two years with false claims that President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.”
Following the NBC News and MSNBC reports, many prominent figures, readers, and contributors took to social media to express disbelief over the outlets’ behavior and show their support for the journalists of The Epoch Times.

Luke Ball, press secretary for Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), wrote on Twitter: “The @EpochTimes has been an authority on exposing the truth behind #Spygate and the fallacious Trump-Russia hoax. It’s no wonder they’re being attacked by liberal  @MSNBC and @maddow. Keep up the great investigative journalism @EpochTimes.”

Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, wrote: “Surprise! @EpochTimes under attack for rejecting left media Russiagate hoax attacks on @RealDonaldTrump!”

Political strategist Jason D. Meister, an advisory board member of Donald J. Trump for President Inc., whose opinion articles have previously been published by The Epoch Times, wrote: “If @NBCNews spent more time investigating #Spygate than repeating Chinese Communist Party propaganda in a hit-piece on the @EpochTimes they might not miss covering the greatest scandal in the history of American politics. @EpochTimes coverage of #Spygate is outstanding.”

Marc Ruskin, a 27-year veteran of the FBI, former assistant district attorney, and a regular contributor to The Epoch Times, wrote: “The virulence of the @NBCNews assault on The @EpochTimes says more about NBC—its fear if a new voice’s rising acceptance by the public at large—than about The Epoch Times.”

Jack Posobiec, host at One America News Network, said: “CAUGHT: NBC News repeated propaganda produced by China’s ruling communist regime as NBC’s parent company NBCUniversal works with a consortium of Chinese state-owned companies on a multi-billion dollar project in Beijing.”

Tracy Beanz, the host of the UncoverDC’s podcast “Dark to Light,” wrote: “This is ridiculous, and NBC shows their fear here. Please do me a favor and consider purchasing @EpochTimes—the journalists there do FANTASTIC work and have been one of the only outlets uncovering the truth.”

Cecilia Farber, a contributor to The Epoch Times, pointed out inaccuracies in NBC News’ hit piece: “NBC falsities against Epoch Times includes claim the word ”gay“ was banned. In this article ABOUT a gay man I used ”gay“ 9 times. Also ‘drag queen,’ and ‘lesbian.’”

Lee Smith, columnist for the Tablet Magazine, wrote: “Reporters @BrandyZadrozny &  @oneunderscore__ attack  @EpochTimes Spygate coverage as ‘conspiracy theory’ w/o disclosing employer  @NBCNews @MSNBC is platform paying anti-Trump spy chiefs & Fusion GPS assets.”

UK based reporter Chris Blackburn wrote: “Journalism is about educating readers. The Epoch Times have been consistent with ‘accurately’ reporting what happened with Russiagate, and what inevitably turned into Spygate. Editorials are par for the course, fact digging is key to journalism. Burying facts is the opposite.”

Reader Shem Horne wrote in a thread responding to NBC News’ hit piece: “Buried in that NBC News hit piece on The Epoch Times they acknowledge that most people talking about Spygate often aren’t into the QAnon stuff yet they spent the entire article trying to link the two together anyways. A really pathetic smear attempt.”

“Even The New York Times cited reporting by Jeff Carlson (@themarketswork) because he was the first to report extensively on the leaked Lisa Page transcript,” he added.

“I said it before and I'll say it again, NBC News attempting to destroy the credibility of The Epoch Times is like a seal of approval for anyone looking for real news. They just shined a spotlight on some of the best journalists around. Countless more people will find them now.”

Although NBC News and MSNBC’s intent is to discredit The Epoch Times, their reports drew in some curious readers.

“Thank you for bringing them to my attention, I’m now following @EpochTimes! Your ‘hit piece’ is actually working as free advertising lol,” former congressional candidate Cullen Burns wrote.
