BUSAN, South Korea—A Korean company chairman was impressed by the majesty and beauty of Shen Yun Performing Arts after attending a performance at the Sohyang Theatre in Busan on Feb. 4. He said he saw the Creator and future in Shen Yun and obtained hope from it.

“The performance is quite outstanding. It’s very encouraging,” said Mr. Kim Sung-woo, the chairman of Canaan Farmer’s Education Group of Canaan Education Center, “Shen Yun is amazing because of its music, dance, high-tech backdrop, and splendid scenes on stage. It’s astoundingly majestic!”
New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s top classical Chinese dance company, and has a mission to show the beauty and goodness of “China before communism.”
Mr. Kim was very touched by Shen Yun dancers’ movements. He said: “The male dancers have very high skills. They danced masculinely and valiantly. The female dancers are very slim and elegant. Their movements are gorgeously beautiful.”

He enjoyed the Shen Yun orchestra which combines Eastern instruments into a Western orchestra.

“Each melody is very touching, and coordinates with the dance perfectly,” he said. “I believe the perfection is based on the great self-cultivation of the artists.”

Mr. Kim said Shen Yun’s backdrop is captivating. He felt he was traveling inside the backdrop during the performance.

“On this trip, I saw the future. I saw the wonderful resurrection. I saw the Creator. And I obtained hope,” he said.

Mr. Kim said he was relaxed now and felt happy from his deep inside his heart.

“This show is uplifting us. It brings us hope and an expectation for the future. This is an absolute must-see,” he said. “I hope everybody can attend Shen Yun. I hope I can attend in the future.”
For 5,000 years China’s civilization was built on values and virtues from the spiritual teachings of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism, virtues like loyalty, propriety, wisdom, justice, and benevolence—values that are universal and shared the world over.

‘Shen Yun Is Incredibly Good’

Mr. Lee Dong-bom and Ms. Cho Yang-sook are a couple and co-workers. Mr. Lee is an honorary professor at Dong-A University, a consultant of the Busan Institute of Classical Studies, and a consultant of Korean Ergonomics. Ms. Cho is the president of the Busan Institute of Classical Studies.

Mr. Lee saw a Shen Yun advertisement in a newspaper at 5:00 a.m. one day and he immediately liked it and booked the tickets. They said “Shen Yun is incredibly good” after attending the show on Feb. 4.

“We have never heard nor seen a show as good as Shen Yun. I fell in love with it from the beginning. I was very touched,” Ms. Cho said.
“It’s fantastic! I enjoyed the story-based dances. The stories are well-known [in South Korea]. The dances are great,” Mr. Lee added.

Mrs. Cho said the dance about a general’s loyalty moved her to tears. Mr. Lee said he learned a lot from one story about current China.

“Although evil things happened and are happening in that corner (mainland China), we human beings should seek our original nature, to be kind. Then we will have a future,” he said.

The couple was impressed by the beauty of Shen Yun.

“Each costume perfectly presents each movement of the dances. From such level of detail, you can understand how magnificent Shen Yun is,” Mr. Lee said.

Shen Yun was founded in 2006, and has recently set a new bar for classical Chinese dance internationally.

‘Best in the World’

Mr. Park Chol-chong is the president of the Singers Association in Busan. He said he has attended Shen Yun since 2006.

“This an absolutely perfect performance. Best in the world. You won’t find another one even if you visit all countries,” he said. “No matter if I have attended 10 times or 20 times, I will attend Shen Yun if I’m still alive.”

Mr. Park said he loves Shen Yun more after watching the new production. Every year, Shen Yun puts on an all-new production, including new choreography, music, costumes, and backdrop sets.

“Everything in Shen Yun is extremely beautiful. The costumes, backdrop, soloists’ voices, the erhu solo,” he said, referring to the two-stringed, ancient Chinese instrument.
“I'll give you an example: The live orchestra coordinates with the dancers’ movements. They work seamlessly with the lights and backdrops as one body. The perfection level is much better than a precision instrument.”

Mr. Park said the Shen Yun orchestra “is the best orchestra in the world. I can’t imagine how much effort the musicians put in to present the perfect show.”
