KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan—Several business owners said they found the lost values in Shen Yun Performing Arts after attending at the Chih-The Hall of the Kaohsiung Cultural Center on March 1.
New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s top classical Chinese dance company, and has a mission to show the beauty and goodness of “China before communism.”
“The dynamic backdrop is spectacular. The colors are very saturated and very well-matched. The dancers’ skills are superb. These all made us feel excited,” he said. “The live orchestra’s music is very impressive too.”
“The [dancers’] movements are incredibly synchronized. Especially in the dance Water Sleeves (in which the female dancers dress in long, flowing sleeves), the dancers moved exactly together, which is perfect and very worthwhile to watch,” he said.
Mr. Huang said he was very awed by the profound meaning he took from the show, and there were several times that he was moved to tears.
“I felt positive energies. Shen Yun showed us a direction and gave us an indication. It helped us to correct our mindsets to think in the right way,” he said.
Mr. Huang planned to attend Shen Yun again next year. “I will tell all my friends that they would feel regret if they don’t attend Shen Yun.”
‘Shen Yun Presented a Paradise’
Ms. Wu Hui-fang is the president of the Guanting Clinic, the founding president of the Kaohsiung Haomei Charity Association, the president of Chengmei Lions Club, and the president of China Excellent Women’s Promotion Association.“Shen Yun presented a paradise in front of us, and brought happiness and joy to us. It purified our hearts and cured our souls,” she said.
“I have different feelings every time. I felt the dynamic backdrop is better and the techniques are more advanced this year. I admire Shen Yun dancers dancing so synchronized and having perfect figures,” she said. “I believed that they must have been trained very hardly. Otherwise they can’t be so extraordinary.”
“The music is very pure. It has just been therapy for the soul. Listening to Shen Yun’s music, I’m very calm,” she said. “Especially the traditional erhu (a two-stringed instrument), which sounds amazing. It played the melodies’ ups and downs. It’s really enchanting.”
“[After this], I felt that people will receive the consequences no matter what good or evil they do. The kind person looks like were bullied by a bad person, but they will be saved by divine beings in the end,” she said.
A Christian, Ms. Wu said Shen Yun encouraged her to give more love to others.
For 5,000 years China’s civilization was built on values and virtues from the spiritual teachings of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism, virtues like loyalty, propriety, wisdom, justice, and benevolence—values that are universal and shared the world over.
Mr. Wang Chien-sheng is the president of Huafan Information Company. He felt “Shen Yun is pretty majestic!”
“Every artist tried all their best to perform. The whole choreography has our oriental character, as well as the virtues of our Chinese traditional culture,” he said.
“I felt Shen Yun is encouraging and inspiring. It uplifted us to be kind,” he said. “This is fabulous. I enjoyed it very much. I will introduce Shen Yun to my friends.”
