KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan—On March 2, Shen Yun Performing Arts concluded its fourth consecutive full-house performance at Chih—The Hall of Kaohsiung Cultural Center.
However, these interference attempts did not affect Taiwan legislator Hsu Chih-chieh. He enjoyed the show thoroughly.
“We will all face hardships in life. So, we must learn to not just enjoy the good times but also happily accept the bad.”
Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. The New York-based artists’ mission is to revive China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture destroyed by communist rule.
Mr. Hsu was touched by artists’ commitment and thought, “the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance are wonderful!”
“We should actively promote traditional values in our society and allow compassion to spread,” he expressed. “Only by doing so will our society change for the better.”
“The organs were taken from a perfectly healthy person. That made me very angry—how can a country hurt its own citizens like that!” he exclaimed. “The fact that we currently have no way of stopping them breaks my heart.”
Mr. Hsu hoped that, through legislative amendments, people in Taiwan could help to expose and end these crimes. He said though there isn’t much Taiwan can do across the border, “we should try our best.”
“We need to strengthen our spirit of generosity and help each other—just like how it’s portrayed in the performance. After we have strengthened ourselves, we need to pay it forward and help those in need.”
