NEW YORK—Rafael Diaz, a business owner in the security industry, was full of praises after finally seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts for the first time.
“It was very amazing, the way they brought it from thousands of years back to the present,” said Mr. Diaz at Lincoln Center on April 13.
Indeed, Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of Chinese civilization through music and dance—a divinely inspired culture that was once nearly lost.
New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance, and has become a global sensation since it was founded in 2006.
Mr. Diaz said he was amazed as soon as the dancing began and would be hard-pressed to name any vignette more noteworthy than another.
“There were a lot of things I didn’t realize, a lot of things I didn’t know,” he said. “The culture was beautiful.”
“The message was very clear, and it was all about the Creator ... and kindness to the world,” he said.
“These things that have spiritual feeling, you do the right thing and as what is the Creator concerned, and good things will happen to you,” he said. He described a moment in one of the dance stories where one character helped another, even when he could have treated him as an enemy.
“You see how the other guy helped him? So that’s why I feel that. It was a divine experience,” he said.
