LONDON, U.K.—Shen Yun Performing Arts presented an evening performance at Eventim Apollo in London on Jan. 27 to a delighted audience. Artem and Marina Matyushok and their sons Dmitry and Max especially enjoyed the performance.

Mr. Matyushok, founder and CIO of LE Group Holdings, said, “We’re really enjoying it. ... For my wife and my sons, it’s actually a first exposure to Chinese culture, and they’re really enjoying it.”

Mrs. Matyushok, who works in marketing and design, appreciated the beauty of the performance. “[It’s] unexpectedly so beautiful on the stage—all the performance, all the costumes, and the way everyone is performing just synchronically all at the same time—very impressive,” she said.

Mr. Matyushok is very familiar with ballet and the great Bolshoi Ballet and said Shen Yun has the same high standards as great ballet.

The animated 3D backdrop entranced the family. “Oh, it’s wonderful, especially when they jump—you know they actually go on the screen,” said Mr. Matyushok, and Dmitry agreed.

Representing one of the world’s great cultures through classical Chinese dance and music, Shen Yun is sharing with the world the beauty of China’s authentic 5,000 years of history. Since its founding in 2006, the company has received worldwide accolades for its mission to revive traditional Chinese culture.

“I think [Shen Yun] should actually, really convey this culture to the world,” Mr. Matyushok said. He definitely felt the spiritual message in the first segment as the Creator saved the whole world.

With his country in the not-so-distant past coming out of communism, Mr. Matyushok understood what the Chinese people are experiencing now. “With the persecution, it was a lot actually resembling the Soviet times in the USSR,” he said.

Mrs. Matyushok said she was young but still remembers, and Shen Yun presented a strong message with a moving scene.

Dmitry is learning Chinese and conveys a positive message in Chinese for the performers: “I think they should continue their work and spread the message across the whole world.”

With shows scheduled in over 200 cities and across five continents, the 2024 touring season is shaping up to be the artists’ busiest yet.
