The search for Christy, 27, was triggered on Sunday, Sept. 16 after Christy made a threat against Trump and John Morganelli, the district attorney of Northampton County in Pennsylvania, that was later deleted.
The sighting came after Christy was spotted in August in Maryland sleeping in a stolen vehicle before fleeing the scene prior to officers arriving.
Captured in Ohio
Christy had fled Pennsylvania for Ohio and was captured around 4:45 p.m. on Friday in Mansfield.Deputy U.S. Marshal Anne Murphy of the Northern District of Ohio said in a press conference that Christy was captured hiding in a ravine, near Camp Mowana.
Dozens of law enforcement officers participated in the meticulous search.
“It was a slow, methodical search. It was slow and took a long time. Finally there he is,“ Murphy said. ”We searched through woods, fields, campsites. The teams eventually located him hiding in a ravine.”
Christy had a gun and a large knife on him when he was captured.
Expected Transfer to Pennsylvania
He was taken to a local jail and is expected to be transferred to Pennsylvania after appearing in an Ohio court on Monday. He was wanted on additional charges, including burglary, probation violation, and failure to appear.“This case represents the true definition of teamwork and dedication to the pursuit of justice. And we want to expressly thank those in the community who have shown such tremendous support of our efforts to bring Mr. Christy in safely.”
