Governments worldwide are beginning to realise that the Chinese Communist Party could in fact be capable of despicable crimes against humanity.

Such crimes were initially dismissed as unthinkable and just not possible in today's society. However, Australia, Canada the United Stated and Europe are replacing their rumblings of disbelief with clear requests for clarification on the issue. For example, the Canadian coalition on human rights in China has suspended talks due to the "recent crackdown on human rights defenders in China", October 2006.

When the Organ Harvesting in Sujiatun Hospital in Shenyang city, Liaoning Province, first came to the world's attention in March 2006. Many dismissed the claims as preposterous. The Falun Gong spiritual group bore the brunt of the CCP illegal detentions and subsequent organ removals.

The Chinese Communist Party has recently admitted to using executed prisoners organs. However even if all officially executed prisoner organs were used we still can't account for all transplants made in china from 1999 onwards.

A recent report into allegations that Falun Gong practitioners in China have had their organs forcibly removed by David Kilgour and David Matas addressed this and many other pertinent issues with respect to the Chinese Communist Party's once secretive practices. Mr Kilgour, the former Canadian Secretary of State for the Asian pacific region was invited by the Irish House of the Oireachtas Joint committee on Foreign Affairs to present his findings.

Mr Kilgour's presentation was received positively. He stated that believes that with "Hearts, heads and backbone", such organ harvesting can be stopped.

During the presentation, Senator David Norris also raised on the Chinese Communist party's generic "Anti-Chinese claims" defence whenever they are quizzed on Falun Gong-related human rights issues. Senator Norris also wished to "condemn absolutely with revulsion those discredited members of the Chinese medical profession who cared to lend their skills to this kind of obscenity". Mr Michael D Higgins TD also condemned their abuse insisted that "sovereignty was no longer an acceptable screen" with respect to human rights issues.

In conclusion, the joint committee agreed that "there is a need for an independent investigation" and agreed to refer to Irelands own human rights sub committee.

Another voice is set to speak out against these violations.
