NEW YORK—Satish Adige, the head of mergers and acquisition at Time Warner Cable, enjoyed a sold out show by Shen Yun Performing Arts on April 21.

“I loved the show. It was phenomenal. Spectacular show,” said Mr. Adige about the performance at David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center.

“The dancers were graceful, the music was unbelievable. We really enjoyed it. We’re glad we made it to this place to come and see it,” Mr. Adige said.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture through music and dance. This culture originated from Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, ideals that “are the essence of traditional Chinese culture,” the Shen Yun website states.

“I think it says that it is important in life, the appreciation of the supreme being in life is important. That message was very clear,” said Mr. Adige. “And so we enjoyed it very much.”

According to the Shen Yun website, “principles such as benevolence and justice, propriety and wisdom, respect for the heavens, and divine retribution, all come to life,” during the performance.

“The value is universal without any question. It doesn’t go into one particular philosophy, but the overall philosophy of human nature. Humanity is what is expressed in this,” Mr. Adige said.

Mr. Adige attended the performance with his wife, Shobha Adige. Mrs. Adige “loved the show” and thought that “it’s beautiful and very graceful.”

“It’s like going to another world,” she said. “There is humor in some of them.”

One of the humorous dances in this year’s all-original program is titled When Shaolin Monks Protected the Emperor. The playful monks in the dance drew warm laughter from the audience.

“The modern, as well as ancient, it was everything, so it was really good and really interesting too,” Ms. Adige said.
