Houston airport shooting: A gunman fired shots at the Houston airport, leaving one person injured with serious injuries.

HOUSTON —Houston police say shots have been fired at the city’s largest international airport and at least one man has been injured.

KHOU television reported that a man went into Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport and fired several shots into the air before turning the gun on himself.

The man was not killed but was critically injured. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in an ambulance.

An airport marshal fired at the man, who entered the airport’s Terminal B, but missed.

The man was reportedly armed with an AR-15 rifle.

There were no other injuries in the incident.

Houston police spokesman John Cannon says a call came in at 1:35 p.m. on Thursday that there had been a “discharge of firearms” near the ticket counter.

The Houston Chronicle reported that authorities are not searching the terminal.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
