Notre Dame “chickening out:” The Fighting Irish are not playing the Michigan Wolverines for four years, starting in 2015, after the Wolverines said the Irish are responsible for canceling games in 2015, 2016, and 2017.

As for 2018 and 2019, the teams had previously agreed to not play during those two years.

The rivalry between the two teams is known as intense.

Michigan Coach Brady Hoke said on May 13 that the Irish are “chickening out of” the games with Michigan, according to Michigan Live.

“They’re still gonna play Michigan State, they’re gonna play Purdue, but they don’t want to play Michigan,” Hoke continued. “I don’t know how they made that decision.”

Two two teams have played 40 times in total, including every season since 2002.

The teams will still play each other once this year and once next year.
