The Southtown Star reported that William Baxter of Homer Glen, Ill. filed suit against Christine Bobak, the owner of the cat, after the animal attacked him in an “unprovoked” manner when he was taking care of it in 2011.

In the attack, Baxter was “viciously attacked, bit and clawed,” and he claims to have suffered injury.

The Mokena Patch reported the suit said Bobak “should have known (her) cat had vicious propensities in that, upon information and belief, the cat had attacked at least one other person on at least one prior occasion.” It added that he was “attempting to feed the cat” when the attack took place.

And the lawsuit claimed that Baxter will “will in the future continue to suffer.”

The Star reported that the Facebook profile of Billy Baxter shows he is married to Christine “Bobak” Baxter of Homer Glen. However, it is unclear if the two are actually married.

Michael Shammas, the lawyer for Baxter, decline to reveal details about the case.

“That’s not something I really want to get into and talk about,” Shammas told the paper. “I’d rather keep it in the courthouse.”

According to the Patch, the suit did not specify whether the cat was a run-of-the-mill house cat or a more exotic type of species
