A tornado touched down near the town of Bluff Springs, Mississippi, on Thursday, and has reportedly caused damage.

The Weather Channel reports that a “damaging tornado has been confirmed,” citing a statement from the U.S. National Weather Service.

“The tornado is between DeKalb and Preston,” tweeted meteorologist Stephen Bowers at KOAA-TV.

The tornado was spotted moving over north-central Kemper County, moving northeast at around 45 miles per hour.

“This tornado could be potentially strong!” the agency said.

A tornado warning has been issued and will be in effect in Kemper County, the agency said.

On Wednesday, a tornado in Arkansas destroyed dozens of homes and a church, according to CNN.

In Van Buren Couty, at least 33 homes and business were struck by the tornado, reported the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. And it destroyed the Botkinburg Foursquare Church and overturned a big rig truck.

At least 6,000 people lost power during the tornado and the accompanying storm, which also produced high winds.

And overnight, a tornado struck near St. Louis, prompting the governor to send in the National Guard.

“This was a strong system of storms that caused damage to communities in several areas of our state,” Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon said, according to USA Today. “We will continue to work closely with local officials to assess damages and provide any needed assistance.”
