Singer Justin Bieber, a Canadian, is reportedly applying for U.S. citizenship ahead of his wedding to American model Hailey Baldwin.
Sources told TMZ that Bieber has applied for dual citizenship, meaning he would retain his Canadian citizenship.

Bieber, 24, was born in Canada but since moving to the United States at the age of 13, he has mainly lived in America. He did recently buy an estate in Ontario, Canada.

Bieber already has a green card.

He has not commented on the report, though the entertainment website is considered a reliable source after breaking a number of similar stories over the years.

Bieber Getting Married

The news about Bieber applying for citizenship surfaced just days after Bieber and Hailey Baldwin, 21, were seen walking into a courthouse in New York City. Baldwin is the daughter of Hollywood actor Stephen Baldwin.

The pair strolled into the building on Sept. 13 and applied for a marriage license, according to reports.

Reports indicated that the pair may or may not have been married that day.

Baldwin responded to those reports on Twitter, saying: “I understand where the speculation is coming from, but I’m not married yet!” She later deleted the tweet.

The license is also good for 60 days, so Bieber and Baldwin would have until Nov. 13 for a public ceremony.

The couple had dated in 2016 but broke up.

But Baldwin has since told The Cut that she had hired a wedding planner, picked a designer for a custom wedding gown, and hinted about their upcoming ceremony.

“I think having it in the woods would be so beautiful,” she said. “My sister will be my bridesmaid. I was hers last year. And maybe Justin’s little sister as a flower girl. Is 10 too old?”

Bieber popped the question to Baldwin while on vacation in the Bahamas, CNN reported.

Bieber announced the engagement in July, posting on Instagram a picture of Baldwin kissing him and adding the caption: “My heart is COMPLETELY and FULLY YOURS and I will ALWAYS put you first! You are the love of my life Hailey Baldwin and I wouldn’t want to spend it with anybody else.”
