Actor Kevin Spacey is on the attack about a two-part docuseries set to air detailing his alleged abuse over the years.

In a lengthy social media post on Thursday, the 64-year-old took aim at broadcasters of the documentary, accusing them of not giving him adequate time to respond to the allegations put forward.
“Over the last week, I have repeatedly requested that [Channel 4] afford me more than 7 days to respond to allegations made against me dating back 48 years and provide me with sufficient details to investigate these matters,” Mr. Spacey said.
The series “Spacey Unmasked” is set to air May 6 in the U.K. on Channel 4 and takes a closer look into the sexual misconduct allegations against him. This, after the actor was acquitted of assault charges last year.

Mr. Spacey went on to claim the documentary offers new, non-specific allegations and anonymous sources that were not involved in his London trial.

“I will not sit back and be attacked by a dying network’s one-sided “documentary” about me in their desperate attempt for ratings. There’s a proper channel to handle allegations against me and it’s not Channel 4,” he said.

In response, Channel 4 denied Mr. Spacey’s request, citing that a week’s notice was more than enough time for him to refute any of the claims being made.

Mr. Spacey said he would take the time to speak out on social media and offer his response to the documentary when it airs.

“Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny, and I have been exonerated,” said Mr. Spacey. “Tune in this weekend to see my response on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter).”

Sexual Assault Trial

In July of 2023, Mr. Spacey was cleared by a U.K. court of nine sexual assault charges against four different men dating between 2001 and 2013 in what was one of the nation’s most highly prolific #MeToo trials. He was found not guilty after facing seven counts of sexual assault, one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

The two-time Oscar winner was accused of unwanted touching, aggressively grabbing and fondling three men, and allegedly performing a sex act on an unconscious man in his flat.

Some of the victims, who were aspiring actors themselves, detailed that many of them were starstruck by Mr. Spacey and over a promise he would help advance their careers, allegedly at the cost of exchanging sexual favors.

The year prior, Mr. Spacey was also found not guilty of sexual abuse in a separate New York trial. This was after being accused of molesting Anthony Rapp while both were young aspiring actors on Broadway in 1986.

Mr. Rapp was his first known public accuser and sought $40 million in damages in the civil trial.

‘Spacey Unmasked’

The documentary is described as taking a “forensic look at Kevin Spacey’s rise and fall from grace amid allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior.”

It will examine the actor’s life from childhood to early success as a young actor and meteoric rise to stardom.

It will also show interviews with 10 men, unconnected to his 2023 case, who are speaking about their alleged experiences with the actor, and almost all of whom have never spoken before.

The documentary has also been picked up in the United States by Max and Investigation Discovery with those air dates yet to be announced.
